Leg Pain Treatment in Los Angeles

Clinic Located Brentwood

Leg pain in active individuals most often develops from overuse, muscle strain, poor biomechanics, training errors, or repetitive stress that irritates the muscles, tendons, or connective tissues. It can also result from imbalances in strength or mobility, leading to excess load on certain areas of the lower body during activity.

At his Brentwood practice, Dr. Sheps offers a range of therapies that are designed to treat arm pain for Los Angeles patients, reduce associated inflammation, and support you in your recovery.

What is Leg Pain?

Leg pain is defined as discomfort or aching anywhere in the lower limb, including the thigh, knee, calf, shin, or ankle, that can result from muscle, bone, joint, nerve, or soft tissue irritation, injury, or overuse.

Common leg injuries or conditions include muscle strains, shin splints, stress fractures, tendinitis or tendinopathy, ligament sprains, IT band syndrome, muscle cramps or overuse fatigue, nerve irritation such as sciatica, and knee injuries including meniscus tears and ACL or MCL sprains.

  • Aching or soreness in the upper arm, elbow, forearm, or wrist
  • Sharp or shooting pain during movement or activity
  • Muscle stiffness or tightness that limits range of motion
  • Weakness in the arm or hand, making it harder to lift or grip objects
  • Swelling or tenderness in the affected area
  • Tingling or numbness that may extend into the hand or fingers
  • Burning sensations along the arm or around a joint
  • Pain that worsens with activity such as lifting, throwing, or repetitive motions

Frequently Asked Questions

Here are some frequently asked questions about leg pain and injuries, and treatment methods.

Light movement may help mild soreness, but exercising through sharp pain or instability can worsen an injury. It’s best to avoid activities that increase symptoms.

You should consider seeing a chiropractor if leg pain persists, affects your mobility, or may be related to joint, nerve, or alignment issues. Chiropractic treatment may help improve movement, reduce tension, and address underlying biomechanical problems.

In addition to manual therapy, shockwave therapy, laser therapy, TECAR therapy, and lymphatic drainage are all non-invasive treatment options that may help reduce leg pain, improve circulation, and support recovery depending on the condition being treated.

  • Shockwave therapy uses acoustic waves to stimulate healing and is commonly used for tendon injuries, chronic muscle tightness, and plantar fasciitis.
  • Laser therapy uses targeted light energy to help reduce inflammation, relieve pain, and promote tissue repair.
  • TECAR therapy uses radiofrequency energy to increase blood flow and support muscle and joint recovery by stimulating deep tissue healing.
  • Lymphatic drainage therapy focuses on improving lymphatic circulation to reduce swelling, fluid retention, and inflammation, especially after injury or surgery.

These therapies are often combined with physical therapy, mobility work, and strengthening exercises for more comprehensive treatment.
