Shockwave Therapy in Los Angeles

Located in Brentwood

Shockwave therapy is a noninvasive treatment for various musculoskeletal problems, including back pain, neck pain, and sciatica. This cutting-edge procedure uses high-energy electrical pulses to promote healing at the cellular level. It boosts circulation to the treatment site, reduces inflammation, and spurs the production of new, healthy cells and tissue.

At his Brentwood practice, experienced chiropractor Michael Sheps, D.C., offers both radial and focused shockwave therapy in Los Angeles using RST-Sanexas neoGEN®. Schedule your treatment or book an appointment online today.

What is Shockwave Therapy?

Shockwave therapy is a noninvasive, drug-free treatment that uses electrical cell signaling to relieve pain and promote healing. By delivering high-energy impulses through electrodes placed on the skin, it targets musculoskeletal conditions like back pain, arthritis, sciatica, and sports injuries. Safe and typically well-tolerated, shockwave therapy supports cellular repair, improves circulation, and often requires multiple sessions for optimal results.

Frequently Asked Questions

Here are some frequently asked questions about shockwave therapy.

Shockwave therapy with RST-Sanexas neoGEN is a noninvasive, drug-free treatment for pain, circulation, and neuromuscular rehabilitation. It uses electrical cell signaling technology (ECsT) to treat musculoskeletal pain at the source.

During treatment, Dr. Sheps attaches several suction cups to specific areas of your body, like a swollen joint or your lower back. The suction cups contain electrodes that connect to a computer console. Dr. Sheps uses the console to emit high-energy electrical impulses that penetrate your skin and encourage healing at the cellular level.

Dr. Sheps uses shockwave therapy to treat various musculoskeletal problems, including:

  • Back pain
  • Neck pain
  • Sciatica
  • Arthritis
  • Sprains and strains
  • Sports injuries
  • Auto accident injuries
  • Tendinitis
  • Bursitis
  • Pregnancy symptoms (for example, muscle cramps)

Sometimes, Dr. Sheps prescribes preventive shockwave therapy. For example, if you play sports or work out, routine shockwave therapy can reduce the risk of soft-tissue damage and optimize your performance.

Shockwave therapy is safe and usually well-tolerated. During treatment, it’s normal to feel your muscles rapidly contracting. You might also notice small pulses that feel similar to being snapped with a rubber band. Let Dr. Sheps know if you’re uncomfortable. He can apply a topical anesthetic before treatment and/or adjust the machine’s settings as needed.

Shockwave therapy is a cumulative treatment, typically taking several sessions to experience noticeable results. Dr. Sheps recommends 5-6 treatments for mild and moderate injuries.* Some people experience noticeable relief after just one or two, but attending all your sessions is essential. Severe musculoskeletal pain could require 10-12 treatments. Dr. Sheps monitors your progress at routine checkups and adjusts your treatment as needed.

Focused and Radial Shockwave Therapy are two types of noninvasive treatments that use sound waves to stimulate healing—Focused targets deeper tissues with precision, while Radial covers broader, more superficial areas; when used together, they can complement each other for better outcomes and more effective results.

Dr. Sheps provides radial and focused shockwave therapy for his Los Angeles patients using RST-Sanexas neoGEN®

After each shockwave therapy treatment, it’s normal to experience mild side effects, like a headache, muscle soreness, and fatigue. Dr. Sheps recommends taking the remainder of the day off work and getting plenty of rest. Any discomfort should improve within 24 hours, but if your symptoms continue, let Dr. Sheps know. Call the office of Michael Sheps, DC, today to schedule a shockwave therapy consultation, or book your appointment online. *Individual results may vary.
